Simple Bedroom Decorating Ideas
Your bedroom is your sanctuary. While much of our lives is spent there unconscious, it's also the place where we wind down from a hectic day. That means our surroundings should convey a sense welcoming and serenity. Here are a few simple bedroom decorating ideas to consider:
Use Plenty of Pillows
Throw pillows on your bed is one element you can get a little wild with. Mix and match patterns a little if you like and use as many as you’d like. It not only makes for a nice visual element to your bedroom, but it offers a sense of comfort. Comfy is key, so continue this idea with a fluffy comforter that is great for snuggling.
Choose Paint Color Wisely
While there is no set rule on bedroom color, most of us people probably prefer to choose colors that bring a sense of calm. If this is true for you, consider neutral or earth tones. If you prefer bright and cheery even in the place where you go to rest, there’s nothing wrong with splashes of pastel (yellow, orange, etc.).
Whatever colors you go with, it’s a good idea to be fairly consistent. Think in color themes and repeat them in various shades for a sense of cohesion.
Don't Ignore Your Floor
When it comes to decorating any room, the floor is often an afterthought. This is especially true in the bedroom. Consider adding a small rug at the foot of your bed to either add a splash of color or simply another interesting decorating element if you don’t already have too much going on.
Personalize Your Bedroom
Bedrooms are generally not designed with your visitors in mind. That means it’s all about you (and your spouse). So, take the opportunity to personalize your bedroom with pieces that you may not otherwise place elsewhere in your home.
Your bedroom is also a place to celebrate family. Take family photographs and make them art with beautiful framework. Maybe take one you are particularly fond of and blow it up to a dimension you would otherwise reserve for a painting.
Headboards
Headboards can really complete the look of your bedroom. You can purchase one, or you can get creative and make one yourself.
Mount Your Bed Light Sources
Mounting your bedside lights is not only a nice sophisticated look, it’s also a valuable space saver if you need it. Even if you still want to have a nightstand, a mounted wall lamp makes it easier to have books or knick knacks without creating a mess.
